A friendly smile-an encouraging word-a sympathetic ear to patients and their families can make a world of difference. The volunteers will tell you they receive much more than they give in personal gratification and in a sense of fulfillment.
Volunteering at Eastside is an excellent way to be of service to patients, family members, visitors, physicians, staff, and to your fellow volunteer. It also offers you the opportunity to develop and grow while meeting new people and making new friends.
High school students (minimum age 16 at the time of registration) can spend the summer helping others while deciding if a medical career is right for them. Registration for the Volunteen Program is only taken on January 1st of each year by leaving name and phone number on the Auxiliary Office voice mail, 770-736-2463. There is a limit of 25 teens for the 10-week session and registration during above date is mandatory.
The hours devoted to volunteering at Eastside will be spent in a variety of services in almost every department of the hospital:
- Breast & Diagnostics Center
- Critical Care Unit
- Day Surgery
- Gift Shop
- Loganville Digital Imaging Diagnostic Center
- Main Information Desk
- Medical/Surgical Floors
- Mother/Baby Unit
- North Tower Information Desk
- Volunteer Office
The Volunteers enjoy a variety of activities throughout the year:
- Making Christmas stockings
- National Volunteer Week
- Relay for Life
- May Recognition Luncheon
- Holiday parties
- Community Outreach Programs through Snellville Middle School, and much more.
Donations are made annually to local charities such as the Gwinnett Community Clinic. The Auxiliary participates in the Annual Relay for Life to help fight cancer and they have a great team!
If you have a talent or interest you want to share within the Auxiliary, call the Auxiliary Volunteer Office at 770-736-2463.
